The story alone was probably a 4 for me, but I took it down a star for the aggressive heteronormativity and fat-shaming. And there really were a lot of plots to juggle; I wanted it to wrap up by the end.

Well this is a fun, quirky romance. The vibe though, was a little off. I’m not sure how to explain this clearly. Maybe it’s because this was released in the distant past of 2007, but something about this whole set up wasn’t working for me. Maybe because as the story went on, every one was too quirky. Maybe things just worked out a bit too conveniently for me. Either way, I still had fun reading it. It was a nice change of pace.

I am clearly in minority when I write this but it was a really horrible book. I picked this up as it had some great reviews as a humorous romance but I don't think I even smiled once while reading this. There was absolutely no build up between the characters. And I hated the hero which is not something I feel often when reading romance.
In the last few chapters, the way Dean treated Blue in front of his friends
Lets his friends treat her as his maid and ignores her completely and then his stupid justification of his actions was so irritating. The way he handled things and played with her emotions. Total mood kill.

What is right now the last in the Chicago Stars series that centers around a fictional football team and each book in the series centers around a different character affiliated in one or another with the team. I have only read the last two books, but I didn't feel like I was missing too much by not reading them in order. At some point I do hope to go back and start at the first and read them all through.

This book centers around a wanderer named Blue Bailey and the quarterback of the stars Dean Robillard. They meet basically on page one and the book follows not only their love story, but some other characters from Dean's family and life. Although their relationship was a complete mess, I loved it. I loved how fiesty Blue was, the reader gets bits and pieces from her childhood that help to create the full image of why Blue is the way she is why she reacts the way she does. There are also some reasons as to why Dean is who he is and I loved seeing them overcome their individual pasts and start a relationship. It was easy to root for them!
