I felt like there were very obvious things that the FMC would just blow off and it was really irritating. It also started slow for me. I don't mind family drama stories and women's fiction, but it just didn't do it for me. I did enjoy the suggestion of ghosts and a magical house. I loved Cecily and how her character brought the story some banter and insight. The last few chapters were the best of the whole book.
I think this book would be good for someone who enjoy's women's fiction and family drama/reconciliation.

When I began reading this book, I expected it to be as enjoyable as some of the other books written by this author. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. While it began with promise, the plot became far-fetched and unbelievable.
This was almost a DNF but the plot with Woody kept me pushing forward.
Beth moves back to Sullivan’a Island into the supposedly haunted house. This was one piece of the book that I didn’t like- the haunted mirror. It was weird and unrealistic.
Beth then falls in love with the handsome Max almost immediately upon meeting him. She really forces the relationship and makes plans about marrying him and having his babies when he really isn’t even that great. Part #2 that I didn’t like.
She decides that since she needs Max to love her the best way to do that is supporting his business ventures and gives him an incredible sum of money against her mother’s wishes. It turns out to be a scam but her mom realizes Beth did it because she didn’t properly grieve after losing her dad and it’s pretty much forgiven. Like…what?! This was strike 3 for me.
Thankfully there was Woody and he was so cute and so caring that I kept reading to see if there would be a blossoming romance there.

Most def not as good as her others but I enjoyed it very much.
Just a nice story. Having been to Charleston for the first time recently, I enjoyed the local descriptions.

I am ashamed to even add this book to my list of books read. It is quite possibly one of the most poorly written books that I have ever completed. The dialog was ridiculous, the shifts in perspective was jarring and disruptive, the storyline was a hodgepodge with a rushed ending that felt contrived. The main character was annoying at best.
I don't understand how an editor could allow this book to be published. I am so glad I didn't spend a dime on this book and checked it out from the library (where the waiting list is hundreds long!). I absolutely do not recommend this book at all!
Comments right and let about bad language.

The email messages between sisters Maggie and Susan reminded me of the email messages in "Raymond and Hannah" (a recent listen).
Beth is working for a newspaper and takes notes on her library borrows. Yes, please.
