This was so entertaining from start to finish, I’m still kind of reeling from it!!! What a page-turner, I absolutely loved the writing style and Lisa Jewell defi knows how to keep you on your toes. Highly recommend! I have so many questions I need answered though ugh
slow-paced
I didn’t care about this at all. No one in this book is likable, I don’t care about the people, the story, nothing. I’m actively disgusted by this novel and nothing that happened was interesting.
I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. I liked the writing style and found the chapter lengths helped to keep the story moving. I felt a little lost at points but always picked it back up. Would recommend
Ate this one up in only 3 days (thanks unemployment!) Had we gripped the whole time and was twisting and turning up until the very end!

This audiobook was done SO, SO, SO well! It blows all other audiobook narrations and designs so far out of the park it’s not even a real competition!
This was my first mystery/thriller. I struggled to really get pulled in by it at first, but around 2/3 in I got more hooked as the pace of the plot quickened significantly. I really liked the last part of the story and how it all came together(Spoiler: or rather didn’t really..?) . I think my issues with the first 2/3 were that it felt a little like the characters were just characters that stuff “happened to.” Yes, I was indeed questioning and feeling like something was off the entire way through, as the genre mandates one to do, but I still found it hard to really see the depth of the characters. This was probably the reason why I wasn’t immersed in it immediately. Albeit, it could probably be put down to more of a general feature of the genre rather than a flaw of the book. I admit it’s hard to fully give the characters away from the start if one wants to save some twists and turns for later.. 😅
The story and plot overall felt well crafted, and I ended up enjoying it - especially because of the ridiculously good narration, production, and sound design (i'm still not over this!).
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to read (or rather listen, because please don’t cheat yourself from experiencing this absolute gold medal of an audiobook!) a mystery/thriller. Especially if you want to read one that makes you question when is something a truth and when is it a lie?
It’s not overly gory or explicit in any way and doesn’t really delve into those details. It isn’t overly suspenseful either, and I’d rather describe it more as a “trickster-type” mystery/thriller.
