I loved the audiobook!
I found the book interesting. I enjoyed the main character's perception, Iris, and the way it is written. Blythe, the leader of the cult, for me, is a reflection of a curiosity I have in life, just like it is referred to within the book. However, for some reason, I can't quite understand how someone can have so much influence over a community and the individual as one identity. But this is something personal, and it does not diminish my intrigue for such topics.
It was a nice read.
Hazel captured my attention just as she captured Iris's, and the ending made perfect sense, in my opinion.

This was such an interesting and unique concept I'd never encountered in a book before. It reminded me of a Lord of the Flies type scenario but for modern day women, seeking escape and refuge from the troubled in their life or other difficult relationships.
So it was a really cool premise for me. However, it was slightly disappointing. I thought it would be really fast paced but it was more of a slow unravel with a very predictable ending.
Although it was well written in places and tackles some important issues for women, I failed to feel utterly compelled by the storyline.

Such visceral writing, I could so imagine the sounds and particularly the smells. The way the plot revealed new information in two timelines was masterful and compelling. I found this thoroughly absorbing, dreamlike, and will look forward to seeing what the author writes next.
