An interesting character study that tries to humanize those responsible for the protomolecule slaughter on Phoebe in the main books.
While a little dry at times (they are all scientists after all), it delves pretty deep into areas such as mental illness and prisoners of war.
Not as good as some of the other short stories, but interesting none the less.

Nice backstory of one of the scientists who worked on the protomolecule. Actually one of the novellas I enjoyed most so far, in spite of the topic. It has a very nice style of storytelling which sets it apart from everything else in the series, I think.
