I would highly recommend this book (and of course Ready Player One) to any video game nerd or 80s geek.
I made the mistake of looking through the reviews before reading this book and was prepared to be extremely disappointed, all of the top reviews were one star saying the book was awful. I don’t agree at all. I really enjoyed the adventure in the book and I thought it was a great sequel, not something many authors can achieve.I know nothing about video games, and I didn’t grow up in the 80s so a lot of the references went over my head, but I still really enjoyed the story. I loved the first book, and while I didn’t love this one as much, I still couldn’t put it down.

This is really more like 3.5 stars. Book got way too bogged down in play-by-play of video games, which isn’t of much interest to me. I skimmed a lot. Not a bad vacation read though. Just nowhere as compelling as the first.

The drive for the characters doesn’t work and the sense of urgency is at times dire but then very relaxed. It’s all over the place. And wade is made out to be a complete ass for the majority of the book
Not as great as the first but I'm glad I finished it :)
