bro this is definitely one of the best books ive read so far and it is so much better than the first book (which i also loved so much). I love how we got more and more secrets revealed and slowly getting better sense of the plot and THE FUCKING PLOTTWIST, LIKE DONT GET ME STARTED!!!! its was overall so fuckin good, i loved every moment of emelia & wrath (italian chief kiss), every moment of the demon princes, THE FUCKIN FLUFFFFFF AND SEGSSY TIMESS and just the progress in getting to know more, like every chapter had me so interested to keep on reading

to all the booktokers who complained this wasn't even that spicy -- not all of us need the protagonist to get fisted in the first chapter

Sin duda alguna, los tres puntos fuertes de este libro son:
1. La ambientación. Me parece espectacular.
2. Las descripciones de vestuario, comidas, etc. Parece que estás ahí.
3. Es un enemies to lovers de los de verdad. De los que tienen razones reales para odiarse (son enemigos naturales, para empezar) y se cuecen a fuego lento. Hace que todo sea muy creíble.
No le doy más puntuación porque siento que la trama en sí se estancó un poco durante gran parte del libro.

De "Stalking Jack the Ripper" serie van deze auteur is, op het derde deel na, een van mijn favoriete series. Ik was dan ook dolgelukkig toen ik via Netgalley een recensie exemplaar van het eerste boek van deze serie kreeg. Ik was nog gelukkiger dat het boek zo tof was. Ik had het tweede (en derde) deel echter nog steeds niet opgepakt. Gelukkig kwam de Nederlandse versie afgelopen maand beschikbaar via Kobo plus en kon ik dit boek lezen voor het slapen gaan.
Ik vind het enorm lastig om onder woorden te brengen wat ik van dit boek vond. Aan de ene kant vraag ik me oprecht af wat ik nu eigenlijk precies gelezen heb. Het eerste deel had een behoorlijk tof plot, maar het lijkt alsof de auteur dat plot een beetje vergeten is toen ze aan dit boek begon. Aan de andere kant keek ik elke avond weer uit naar mijn uurtje lezen voor het slapen gaan, omdat ik wel heel graag verder wilde lezen.
Dat komt omdat de spanning tussen Emilia en Toorn van de pagina's spat. Hun aantrekkingskracht is gewoon verslavend, zeker omdat ze om elkaar heen blijven draaien, elkaar blijven wegduwen, elkaar blijven uitdagen en elkaar blijven voorliegen. Het hele daadwerkelijke plot had wellicht ook in vijftig pagina's, of misschien zelfs minder, verteld kunnen worden, maar dan hadden we wel de constante will they/won't they moeten missen.
Ik was wel heel blij dat de auteur eraan gedacht had om nog wat aandacht te besteden aan het eten. Ik herinner me dat ik na het lezen van het eerste boek echt enorm veel zin had in Italiaans en hoewel dit boek zich helemaal niet meer in Italië afspeelt, brengt Emilia gelukkig nog wel wat tijd door in de keuken en ging ik toch weer watertanden. En gelukkig pikte de auteur ook het plot weer op aan het einde van het boek. Ik ben dus heel nieuwsgierig naar het laatste deel!

This picks up right where the last book left off. It's definitely not YA anymore, and I would feel very uncomfortable recommending this to teens, because this series went from YA fantasy to Adult romance, with a heavy focus on sex.
It's also so slow moving. I counted 90 pages that only covered one evening/night. And there wasn't a ton happening in that night either. This was just so messy and badly written. Some of the sentences didn't even make sense, and felt like things were being alluded to that maybe I was supposed to know, but I didn't know. I don't know if I want to read the third book, because I'd kind of like to know what happens, but I am not as into romance as these books are now requiring.

For me, this was worse than the first book, but it wasn't bad. If you disliked the characters then I do not recommend you read this book... It was mainly character driven and the plot went really slowly in my opinion. This is not a small book, however the actual plot could've been done in 200 pages. Personally I liked the characters so I didn't mind that much, however I wouldn't have minded it going a little faster, it felt like for 75% of the book nothing actually happened and she was still in the same position as at the start. At the end some things do happen so I am excited for the third book. This book felt very focused on the main character's relationship and it was way more sexual than the first book, which took me by surprise.
