The future may be dark. But there‰ЫЄs hope there, too.

This is a lot different than I expected. I was thinking it would be all about future utopias of diversity - perfect worlds where we all lived in peace.

But it has it‰ЫЄs roots in a tad more reality. It‰ЫЄs about futures, sure - and some are brighter than others. But there‰ЫЄs no such thing as perfection. There is, however, such a thing as hope.

Check out this anthology. Which, in a sense is itself a utopia of diversity. Different stories, different lives, different perspectives.

While this anthology isn't inspirational in the exact sense I had hoped for, it brims with inventive storytelling and world building. Most of the futures presented here are ones that survive anew after an apocalypse, with those remaining attempting to mold a kinder and more collaborative world that the one their forefathers destroyed. Other stories present a piece of the creator's dreams for a future, like ones where androids live alongside us, or prison sentences are reimagined. I would recommend this anthology to other readers. The art and writing within is innovative, creative, and will make you wonder about the variety of options our near descendants may be faced with while building a viable future.

I like the optimistic bent, so plusses for that. Great art all around. None of the stories really stuck with me though, and it was undoubtedly due to the page limit as there were more than a few pieces with runway left in them. Three stars elevated to four by the concept.
