Le avventure dell'ape Flora 717, originariamente una spazzina, che viaggia attraverso le varie caste dell'alveare e scopre segreti che potrebbero compromettere la sopravvivenza stessa delle sue sorelle.

In copertina il libro è definito come "La fattoria degli animali incontra la generazione di Hunger Games". Come al solito, marketing assai fuorviante. De La fattoria degli animali io in questo libro vedo davvero poco... certo, c'è una casta di api sacerdotesse che tiene ben stretto il potere, ma le somiglianze finiscono qui. Piuttosto, se di Orwell vogliamo parlare, mi viene in mente 1984: c'è una Mente dell'Alveare e una Polizia della Fertilità pronta a eliminare il dissenso. Ma il distopico finisce qui. Il resto mi sembra normale amministrazione per un alveare.

Romanzo avvincente e molto originale, ma l'antropomorfizzazione spinta delle api mi lascia perplessa. Voglio dire, non credo che le api abbiano sangue, né tantomeno ca***/f***.

Loved this book, couldn’t put it down. I have a sudden obsession with bees so this seemed to be the best book in the world. It was so interesting and so well written. Fascinating, and wonderful thinking what these little insects might be thinking and how they work.
