It's been a long time since I was as underwhelmed with a book as I was with this one. Sooo disappointing. I listened, to this on Audible and wasn't a huge fan of the narrator, who had a weird quirk when she was doing male voices, but didn't particularly grab me with her women's voices either. Just an all-around non-starter for me. May do it for someone else, but for me it was trying to do too much and amounted to an eye-rolling experience.
Wendy Walker slammed onto the thriller scene with All is Not Forgotten, and followed it up with the incredible Emma in the Night.
Now she's gearing up for the release of her third thriller, The Night Before.
I was provided an early copy of the book to provide my honest feedback, and boy oh boy. This book is just too easy to devour.
This baby bookling is so newborn that it doesn't even have a cover yet! You'll have to wait on the edge of your seat for my full review and the book itself, but here's a little nibble of my thoughts!
"This book is a master class in the unreliable narrator, the alternating-time chapters, in leading you down the road only for you to find it wasn’t taking you where you thought."
I gave The Night Before an unreserved four stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
The book comes out in May 2019, but lucky you! You can pre-order the book on Amazon here!

So Laura's boyfriend breaks up with her via text, and she ultimately falls apart and quits her job and moves and everything. Seems a bit extreme to me, but okay, I'll roll with it. Now she is meeting some guy from a dating website and getting in his junker car (when he said he had a BMW) and nothing feels right, and yet Laura decides to go anyway. How many red flags do you need? Well, obviously more than that because now Laura is missing.
Now Laura's sister, her husband (the sister's), and collectively their group's other best friend are all searching for Laura. Along the way, we find out that there is something we don't know about Laura - something she did a long time ago that now this group is wondering if she has done it again. Also, red herrings are popping up, everyone seems suspicious, and we don't know if we can trust them. It is all quite a mess, but maybe others found it suspenseful. I thought it was lackluster and just kind of dragged things on longer than necessary.

I loved this book! It starts with Laura and her getting reading for a date but the next chapter you are with her sister Rosie and it's the morning after. You then interchange between the 2 views along with the odd therapy session with Laura from several months before. This is the kind of book I love with secrets coming out and the author giving you the chance to come to your own conclusion only to pull the rug from under your feet as the truth is revealed.

The Night Before was a good thriller that kept me guessing until the end. The characters drove me crazy with some of their poor decisions and lack of communication with each other throughout the book, but it was true to what their character was meant to be. It was necessary to suspend belief through most of the novel, but all in all I would recommend it. It was a fast read for me.
Wow, I read this in one sitting. What a great psychological thriller. Really masterful writing keeps you engrossed while advancing a story line that you won't predict but that makes perfect sense -- after the twist is revealed. This book just doesn't claim to be a psychological thriller -- it really is one.

I read Wendy Walker's previous book, Emma in the Night, and really liked it, so I jumped at the chance to read The Night Before. The story starts off with a bang and the shots just keep on coming until you reach the shocking conclusion. 4 very enthusiastic stars!

Amazing twist! I received t he ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I loved it! I read it in one afternoon. It's one of those great psychological thrillers that i just couldn't put down until I knew the ending. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Peter Swanson or Gillian Flynn!
