This book is truly a fairytale (adult fairytale!) - and in a good way. It is exciting, sweet, and entertaining - though a bit black and white with clean roles for everyone.
There were a lot of lovable characters who I hope get their own books - Brody the shapeshifter for one!
However, I do like the world Sparks has created and will definitely be back for the other stories!

What a good first read in a series. Such a sweet slow burn, and I'm sure the others will follow suit. I love the world building, the humor, and the characters that were developed. I will say I did find the guards to be lacking at times. Otherwise, onto the next one!
I love Ms. Sparks world building ability! while a little fantastical, the plot was a good one. mayhem, magic and mystery abound in this one.
I’m amazed I even finished this honestly. I’m already not a fantasy fan but was trying to branch out. I might have been able to handle the magical moments if there was and actual romance in the book. There isn’t. At all. You can’t even call this a slow burn. It moved at a glacial pace and barely reached tepid.
This felt like a bit of a slow read to me compared to other books by this author. I’ve felt like I’m in a weird reading slump so that might also be part of it.
this is has to be one of my favorite book by Kerrelyn sparks. I loved this book, the characters and the magical dynamic. I just loved this book. I found no fault and read this book in a hour. it just captivated me. this is a for sure 2017 must read.
After many 'tis and 'twas's from other medieval fantasy romance novel I think I finally found one that had a good balance with the medieval 'language'. Here it's used more of an accent and done in a way that doesn't make you want to bash the character's head in. It's a slow burn as I like. The one thing that I did find annoying was that some characters said something all the time like "I like that" "it's muscle", but if you're a weirdo like me if find it so ridiculous that it's actually somewhat funny.
This book was AMAZING!! I cannot tell you how many times I had to stop reading to go, and tell my sister something that had made me laugh out loud.
The Embraced series brings us a whole new world where people who are born on the night of the two moons are blessed, or cursed, with powers. We meet our main character Luciana in a covenant on the Isle of Moon. One of the only safe places for people who are Embraced.
She has always thought she and her sisters (not blood related) were orphans but now her father has come to take her home after disaster has struck and he is left with no choice.
To save not only the life of her father but that of his people from the king’s ruthlessness Luciana agrees to go home with him, and marry the Beast of Benwick.
Lord Leofric, Leo for short, is one of the only Embraced that openly is out when it is a death sentence to be one.
Mostly because his uncle, the king, just can't seem to kill him. With his supernatural powers, and cunning, he has managed to stay alive this long being the Lord Protector of the realm. A duty that killed his father not to soon after being appointed so.
Outstanding. Amazing. I cannot praise this book enough! It gives the feel of the old historical romances I love so much but also has that paranormal edge and steamy chapters from books of today that just kept me turning page after page late into the night.
I would recommend How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days to anyone who is a fan of historical and paranormal romance. If you have not picked up a book by Kerrelyn Sparks; let this be your first one! You will not be disappointed!
I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out, So I Married a Sorcerer, August 29th 2017!

Having completed her Love at Stakes series, any new Kerrelyn Sparks book is an automatic to-read for me. But imagine my surprise (and delight!) to find myself transported to this entirely new magical world of Aerthlan.
There are 5 kingdoms in Aerthlan, 4 of them constantly warring with one another, despising all things magical. Five girls with extraordinary powers are introduced in this story and I believe there’ll be a book for each. This book is Luciana’s story.
I love the historical and magical setting of this new world, which is a huge contrast from her thoroughly modern though no less paranormal Love at Stakes series.
I enjoyed reading about the slow but steadily budding romance between Luciana and Leo, both of whom are very lovable characters. And all that wonderful magic! Can't wait for the next book in the series!
