I liked this more and more as it went on. my favorites were bjork, Eileen Myles, the prince essay, and Carolee schneeman.
I especially like how the conversations get looser as she gets older. she starts to say "like", she starts to have hesitation and ellipses. and she starts to incorporate things she's picked up from other writers, like using carolee's all caps.
I wish I were friends with bjork! she's so loving and thoughtful and effusive!! and she has her legendary cabin art jams. ugh, so cool.

So, I'm abandoning this book only 13 pages in. It had ended up on my TBR because of maybe a small blurb in Time, and I thought it would be perf for my purple book cover read for BPL Bingo. However, this is just a case of wrong expectations. I thought it was going to be essays and conversations about love and relationships, but it's much more literary analysis and reflection of works and authors I've never heard of. So nothing wrong with the book if that's your cup of tea, but I fear it would be 330 pages of me being completely lost, devoid of the context of the thing the essays and conversations are about.
Now to find a different purple cover book...
