Something of an affair against the customs of the time.
Felt entirely like an intimate reminiscence into a woman’s life and love and grief.

So well written, I really appreciate Duras' style
Read it in pretty much a single sitting. I'm reserving my commentary until I give it a re-read because I'm certain I didn't grasp everything that Duras was aiming to achieve. It's a short novel, but certainly not a quick read.
Solid 3.5 stars --- not sure I loved it, but we'll see.

I adore marguerite duras. The writing is extremely raw and almost poetic, capturing the emotions so intensely that it is profoundly relatable. It is quite disturbing and sad, but beautiful in a unique way.
