Such a fun book. It made me laugh at times. It’s about an orphan Anne who comes to green gables mistakenly to the brother and sister of green gables who wanted a boy but got a girl. She is a very imaginative and talkative. And instead of sending her back they decide to keep her. And over the course of her being there the bond strengthened of love, friendship and of various relationships. And of her growing up. It’s a very sweet read. I’d highly recommend for a middle schooler. I’ll have my 6th grade daughter read this next.

This was my first time reading the book after seeing the show, and I'll happily continue the series! Anne Shirley is a precocious, fanrastical girl with a temper who matures sweetly throughout book 1. One of the best examples of girlhood is Anne and Diana's friendship filled to the brim with trouble and secret messages. I can't wait for more Anne-Gilbert interactions in the next books!

I feel cheated out of part of my childhood for never reading this growing up amid all the other things I DID read. This was just as good as I expected. I’m excited to continue on with the series.

It’s enjoyable, relaxing and cute most of the time but i felt like it was such a slow book, in the sense it took a long time for me to finish, i found the long description of the scenery beautiful but sometimes boring, i did cried at the ed though so it was good
