A well-written psychological thriller, there were several twists I didn’t anticipate. That said, I knew who the bad guy was almost immediately. The premise of the book is good and the execution is great too!

I absolutely loved this one! So creepy and unsettling, and I did NOT see the plot twist coming!

I was certain for the first 1/2-3/4 of this book that it would be a 2 or 3 star read at best. The characters felt boring and predictable, as did the story, and when you [seemingly] get the big twist it’s kind of a let down. But don’t you worry, folks, it ain’t over yet! What a wild turn of events in those final chapters. Of course I still feel like more work could’ve been done in the first half(ish) of the book to make certain things less obvious, but in the end it still got me.

Riley, my guy, let’s talk. Stop making your leading lady sleep with the bad guy. It’s a dead giveaway. As SOON as that went down I knew he was the villain.

This is my third book by Riley Sager and the one that has been recommended to me the most. I know this is many people’s favourite by this author, but while I enjoyed it, I wouldn’t say it was my favourite.
I usually shy away from books with medical content and the last third of the book was so heavy on this topic I felt sick to my stomach. And the FMC was such a limp noodle/damsel in distress—a trope that I found myself constantly being frustrated by. She was so downtrodden that being a final girl never really paid off in the end.
The tension and twists were effective, making it a thriller I didn’t want to put down, so overall I would recommend it if you already are a fan of this genre.
