This was okay. It didn't offer me much new insight, but confirmed a lot of my own feelings toward Veronica Mars. A lot of these were just overly flowery college essays. The very last one in the book was the best, and by far the most well written. Why is this book "unauthorized" if it's edited by Rob Thomas? I don't understand flashy selling techniques.

A much more intellectual take on the series than I was expecting but it was very interesting.

This was an interesting read, that I clearly read more because I adore Veronica Mars than for its high quality or new insights. There really aren't very many of those, and the essays vary a great deal in quality. Some of them are wonderful, most are pretty ok, some are dreadful.
It is, however, annotated by Rob Thomas, which makes it a bit more of a fan thing.
This is by no means very advanced pop culture analysis, but I enjoyed it!

Sheer guilty pleasure--a collection of essays about Veronica Mars. Some of them were fabulous, others not so great. But overall, it was fun and got me wanting to rewatch the entire series. Perhaps if the writers' strike continues. . .

I love these Smart Pop books. It's always interesting to see what other people see and connections they make in a show that I love. This book came out between the second and third seasons of the show. I finally got around to reading it now since the new movie comes out in a week. I love that Rob Thomas, Veronica Mars' creator, edited and wrote an introduction to the book. He also writes a little blurb before each essay that enhances the reading experience.

Of course I loved it. How can you go wrong with analyses of Veronica Mars, one of the best TV shows of the decade?

Just not enough there there for me. I'm going to go to Sally's newsletter instead.

First of all: I don't understand why this book is "Unauthorized" but edited and annotated by Rob Thomas? Why didn't he just authorize it while he was at it? BUT ANYWAY.

This was alright. My favorite part were the notes from Rob Thomas. The first essay (after Thomas's introductory essay) read like a dumb blog entry and I was terrified that the whole book would be like that. But it didn't. I wish I had read this right after re-watching the series, I think I would have gotten more out of it. Anyway, this was fine, but nothing earth-shattering.

Fair warning - this was written before season 3 aired. And way before the movie. That being said I enjoyed almost every single entry. The 5th star, I will say, is for Boom Goes the Dynamite by Misty Hook. That one is for all of us LoVe fans out there!
