Well, obviously the book was gripping enough to have it finished in two days because let’s be real… Lucinda is real good at keeping her readers engaged… but I think I was expecting… more? From this. I don’t know. I go into most books I read completely blind. Toxic trait. I know. But it’s true. So I guess I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but it was more than that. Now, that’s not to say it wasn’t good, because it was - for sure! But if you’re looking for something similar to her others, this is not it. However, it sure was emotional. I went from hating the mother, not trusting the mother, feeling sorry for the mother, RELATING to the mother, sympathizing, you name it - all the emotions. I give this a 3.5 ONLY because I had high expectations (my fault, considering I didn’t read the summary!)
