A harrowing read about an experience that far too many of us will endure, at least in part. As a fellow victim I felt overwhelming pity and empathy for Celeste. Her turmoil expressed itself differently (I followed the cliche of chasing the bottom of a bottle), but the result was the same. Isolation, desperation, despair and a detachment from reality. The idea of my situation having the same result as hers is one I'd never have been able to process, and who can fault her for her reactions?

Started off ok, but then really slowed down and got boring and predictable. I skipped 60% of the book. The characters were just horrible, i should have just stopped reading after the first part but i kept hoping it would get better....it did not

Berry’s books are guaranteed to do one thing no matter what and that’s cause a very strong emotional reaction. Whether it’s from shock, sadness, or understanding. I didn’t know where this was going the whole time it was going there. Honestly I am a little upset about her choice in the end, but not being a mother I have no idea what I would do in that situation. I really wish there was more- I wanna know how she settled into her life after everything. Loved it.

I’ve enjoyed Berry books in the past and this was not really what I expected. I felt a little flat at the end as it didn’t really resolve anything. I felt it was like to books smooshed together as the middle was so different from the start but then by the end it did round itself out and kind of tie everything together!

Not Lucinda’s best. It didn’t grip me like her other books have and the ending was quite predictable
