As always, Joe is fucking batshit. I like that there are deviations from the show in the book — it helps keep it interesting. Also interesting is Joe’s reasoning/logic skill. I am fascinated yet terrified by his brain.

This was a little less thrilling compared to You, the first novel in the series but still a must read to keep up with Joe & his nutty self. Love is more of a brat and not as compelling as her TV show counterpart. Forty was still odd. Delilah didn’t play a big part in this. I found myself going back to the TV show a lot because I think the producers did a great job with bringing Love and the new people to life alongside Joe. This seemed more of a filler to set up for the other books. I’ll still read books 3 & 4 though.

I love this book it was genuinly so much fun to spend time reading it... it's so weird (in a good way) that the very basic premise and events are like in the netflix show and the characters are absolutely in character, but also i never knew where anything was going to go. there are so many divergences ever since book 1 and they are like HUGE things that make it impossible to go the same route as the show. but also it kind of ends up at the same points here and there and it's so weird i love it and i love this writing style so much especially. the informality of it, like using a ton of "and"s to conmect multiple sentences in a grammatically incorrect way really does flow so well, joes mind is racing and this style absolutely encapsulates it. like 5 times on the last couple pages i thought ok this is the end of this book, but it kept going, this book always keeps escalating, i love my time spent with this series and look forward to when i find the time to read book 3

I actually really enjoyed this. I went into it nervous because a lot of people didn’t like this one. I get that it changed from second person to first person, but I honestly didn’t mind it that much. I think the change was good because the first one was mostly stalking and this one wasn’t as heavily about that. I did enjoy the characters. The plot was fine like did I really care about Joe and Love being in love,no, not really. But I just find Joe so interesting. It does end on a cliff hanger so be warned.

Let's put it simple. This book is pointless. You ended perfectly for the kind of book it was; a dark, not completly closed end that left you wondering and I loved it for that. And then Kepnes decides to write Hidden Bodies, trying to add more to a plot and a character that had nothing else to give - they had already been perfectly explored.

The strong advice about the dangers of social media? Lost. It had no impact, because it had already been done. The joy of meeting Joe and getting the chance to be inside his twisted mind? Lost. Joe had given everything he had in the first book, there was nothing new about him and that's exactly what I got - nothing new, just more deaths, revenge, stalking and a toxic obssession to a girl that is nowehere near love.

There was just nothing new and I think Kepnes ended up realizing that as well because for a while all she did was ramble without really adding anything to the plot. It's good Kepnes managed to keep a good pace that allowed the story to flow, otherwise I would still be reading it - and chances are I wouldn't finish it before the end of the year.

And whereas the lack of normal characters was tolerable in the first book, because everything was new and Joe's charm would make up for pretty much any negative thing, it was not tolerable in the second, where Joe is no longer new. Why can't anyone be normal?! Amy has serious issues and I wouldn't be surprised if she was diagnosed with kleptomania, Milo's attempt to win Love back is twisted and wrong in too many ways. Forty should have got himself into therapy. And Love has serious problems and anyone who doesn't see that has problems as well. With characters like these, it's not a surprise you ended up rooting for the psycopath, who in the end of the day is the saner among them.

Once again, Caroline Kepnes hits it out of the park with another amazing book in her You series. I honestly love this version of what happens with Joe so much better than the TV series season 2 version. If you liked the first book, you should really enjoy the second book.
