A luscious mystery set in London in the early 20th century. A group of friends meet at Oxford from widely varying backgrounds. One of them turns up murdered. The case is never solved until a decade later when one member of the group wants to put the question to rest. Jealousies, intrigue, extremely well drawn characters, and just enough overlay of Victorian mores make for a compelling story.

KJ Charles can do it all. This is not a romance novel, like her typical. It is a murder mystery and it really kept me guessing as to the culprit right up until the reveal.
Big If We Were Villains energy. The main character is still gay and there is a little yearning, but it is not the focus, and is there largely to help serve the mystery plot and is not explicit. I was so into this. I want KJ Charles to write 100 more.

This was a very intriguing mystery that kept me guessing. A great exploration of friendship and the passing of time.
