Now that Aphra knows where to find her mom, it seems inevitable that she would go seek her out. And so she tells her father that she will be visiting a friend in South Carolina, but instead Aphra boards a plane to Seattle.

The reunion, is far from what Aphra expected. No sooner does she finally find her mother, and she informs her to board another plane back to the island. Even though Aphra’s mom stopped working for the CIA it seems that the drama hasn’t stopped. When her mother’s partner, Joe, ends up dead, it only confirms Aphra’s fears. She is in over her head again!

Just when she thinks things can’t get worse, Seth, her Seth, shows up demanding the ring that he had given her. Why does he want to ring so badly and why does Aphra’s mom want her out of the picture?

Full of action, suspense, and mystery, Death by Latte is a thrilling edition to the Death by series! I enjoyed the change of scenery is this novel! And is there any better way to associate Seattle than with a latte!! I enjoyed the authentic relationship dynamic between Aphra and her mother and of course the sentimental moments between Seth and Aphra. The plot twists where a plenty and they kept me guessing throughout the entire novel! Even though I really enjoyed Death by Bikini, I have to say that Death by Latte was a step up! And Death by Denim looks to continue the trend!

Better, Gerber, better. As I was sitting in the library today, I was thinking, "Wow, look.. I wanna read that book.. And that one.. And that one.." Well, I still had this one to read and I'm not sure if I thought it was a slightly slow read in the beginning or if I just wasn't too into it, it took me forever to finish. I sat myself down today and finally finished this itty-bitty book.

In the second installment of Linda Gerber's mystery series, Aphra books her flight to Seattle to find her mother. I personally thought Aphra was COMPLETELY STUPID but, hey, that's just my opinion. After she finds her mother and realizes that she isn't too happy to see her, her mom tries to send her back home. Joe, Natalie's partner (Aphra's mom), goes out for a cup of coffee. The coffee turns out to be poisoned and it kills Joe. Seth, oddly enough, shows up only to ask for the ring he gave Aphra in the first book back and Aphra realizes she can't find it. The story takes a lot of turns and twists and shows that you can't really trust anyone.

This book was definitley not as predictable as the first book. The result was a surprise. The romance wasn't really there until the end of the book but the action lingered around every corner. Honestly, I'm looking forward to the next book but I hope it turns out good because I'm not so sure what you can really do with the plot anymore.

I have enjoyed this short series although I don't think the writing is all that great, Gerber is a good storyteller and at least gives you the element of surprise and some sort of suspense.

This is another book that I've been waiting on for a long time, and oddly enough, I'm reading the series backwards haha.

This was definitely a fun, quick read. I should have read the first one closer to this, but even as a standalone it was great!

Fast-paced fun. A little too fast at times, but still an enjoyable spy story.

So I read the first book in this series a loooooooooooong time ago. Like, several years ago. But I vaguely remember it and I figured it was pulp fiction YA – the author is going to repeat all the necessary information. And she did!

Plus, it’s not a very complicated plot. Girl gets caught up in spyfare, since her mother is ex-CIA and her love interest is on the run from the evil spies. Girl's mistakes move the plot along, but her spunkiness helps outmaneuver evil spies. Girl doesn't get boy quite yet, since this is a trilogy.

It’s a complete thriller – light on character, heavy on action. It flows very well and fast, but as soon as I thought back to what happened in the light of knowing everything (instead of just enough to move the plot along), everything begins to unravel.
SpoilerI mean, what the heck was the point of turncoat CIA agent choking his (secret) partner and causing him to crash the plane – which could have killed everyone onboard? He already had what he wanted: the ring and the people hiding it trapped at his mercy in an enclosed space. I mean, crashing the plane and trekking the wilderness, which could’ve led to his death or abandonment, was completely pointless. Exciting, but stupid.

Whatever, it was a fun read and good summer fluff.
