Whilst I definitely enjoyed this book, I think on reread getting to the point was maybe a bit slow. A lot of the same kept happening for a good chunk and it was getting repetitive, but the ending really pays it off.
Lots was explored in this sequel, so there was a good mix of plot points to keep me reading (again).
Some more specific stuff now; man, Ali loves to traumatise these children, huh? You’ve got Dax with PTSD symptoms after his attack, Lisa can’t seem to catch a break when her dad ends up in a crash, and Gideon’s life is overturned, twice. THEN our beloved setting of Tregarren is destroyed. All in the same book.
It’s a lot to take in for me, let alone the characters, but hey, it sets up the rest of the series nicely and
Dax’s falcon form revealed at the end
really keeps you interested for the future books.
