Beautifully illustrated. Sad and all too familiar for many of us, a very good middle school ghost story and life lesson.
The book is half illustrations and half text. It obviously took an incredible amount of talent to produce. Done in black and white and diary entries, it tells the tale of 2 young girls desperate for a friend. One who is severely bullied at an orphanage and a recent orphaned young girl who recently moved across the street. One of the best twists is that they lived in different time periods but somehow find one another. Not only is this book creepy (one of the young girl makes puppets) but it tells the horrors of how severe bullying can be for a youth.
Ghost story about being lonely and looking for a friend.

This is an odd one that continues to linger in my mind. Take it from someone who enjoys the creepy, unusual and unsettling— this had my skin crawling, but I’m not sure if in a good way. Perhaps I’m slightly put off because it’s categorized as a Juvenile fiction. However it’s “creepy” factor sells well, and doesn’t hold back. From the illustrations to the journal entries, it does what it set out to do, quite well.
hauntingly sad, i loved the artwork that accompanied the story and would love to read more in this style
