I AM HEARTBROKEN!!! BRUISED!!!! DESTROYED!!!!!!!!!!

edit: I read this book in maybe one or two sittings? I dont remember but i read it fast. it took me a few hours. and listen, i had already read tgw so i was kinda used to roshani's writing so i was thinking "it's gonna be okayyyy" but HAHAHAH joke's on me.
This book is amazing. But goddamn it hurts so bad. Spoilers ahead, be careful.
I just wanted to hug everyone? I wanted to hug Severin because he was just pushing everyone away because he had lost Tristan and couldn't afford to lose anyone else? I wanted to hug Enrique because nobody was listening to him? (dw baby i was listening to you!!!). I wanted to hug Laila because she was scared, and I wanted to hug Zofia because she's amazing and I wanted to hug Hypnos because it's Hypnos you know? The relationship between the characters is just simply magnificent. THAT'S a found family. The plot was so good. And once again... Roshani got me. I thought, after reading The Gilded Wolves, I was prepared. Oh haha I was so wrong. I hadn't expected that ending. At all. Everything happened so fast, and... Yeah, I'm still heartbroken because of it. I just wanted to scream because Laila thinks Enrique et Zofia are dead and she destroyed the thing that told the truth about everything so she doesn't know what Severin has done for all of them and she thinks he as betrayed them and??? I WISH MY LOVE WAS MORE BEAUTIFUL????????? brb i gonna go cry again.

Mysteries to solve, treasures to find, plus the obligatory sudden but inevitable betrayal - and all set up brilliantly for the next volume, I can't wait!!

I probably would have enjoyed this book if I was not a lazy person & actually read the first book. However, I have 2 advanced copies in my library without any of the symbols and illustrations in the final copy. I love the riddles and codes throughout the novel and appreciate how creative Chokshi was in the plot and the characters. The team of individuals were very unique. I was also happy to read another novel by a Filipina author where the heritage was shared throughout the novel with the inclusion of a Filipino character. In this novel, they were searching for the "Mythical Lyrics" thought to give a person eternal life.

I cannot believe I have to stay silent about this novel for another 11 months. September 2020 cannot come soon enough. Suffice it to say that I love this book/series, and I already can't wait for the next installment.
