I approached this book with certain expectations, yet confusion was absolutely among them. The narrative felt unnecessarily convoluted, leaving me uncertain about how the events will transition into the sequel. Many have suggested that the series truly gains momentum in the second installment, leading me to believe this could have been more effectively crafted as a duet rather than a trilogy.

“I wish I’d never met you.”
“I’ll meet you over and over again if I have to.”

While I prefer not to delve into spoilers regarding her character, I must admit she felt somewhat inconsequential throughout the story. Despite having the majority of the point-of-view chapters, it seemed as though the plot unfolded around her rather than through her experiences. The only aspect I found endearing was her relationship with Jeremy, which struck me as genuinely wholesome and charming.

As for the male lead, he epitomizes the archetype of a Rina Kent character, and I must confess he caused me considerable frustration. His portrayal as a love interest left me indifferent; the possessiveness, jealousy, and tension he exhibited failed to evoke any real emotional response. The rapid pace of the narrative left little room for meaningful development, ultimately diminishing the potential for a satisfying payoff.

hoping for the next book to make it up for me.
