What a cheeky little bear. So many relatable illustrations and a cute little cozy read. I understand the infatuation people have with this absolute icon. Consider me one of those people.
A Perfectly charming story, I just expected a touch more humour
I really liked this book and am smitten with sweet little Paddington. The story is charming and funny, and though it's a children's book it was thoroughly enjoyable to me as an adult. In fact some of the humor might go over a child's head. I can see myself picking up the other books in the series when I'm in the mood for a light, amusing, warmhearted read.
A Brown házaspár épp a lányukat várja a londoni Paddington állomáson, ahol megpillanatanak egy kis mackót, akit aztán maguhoz vesznek. S ezzel folyamatos elfoglaltságot biztosítanak családjuknak. A legsötétebb Peruból emigrált medve, kezében kis bőröndjével fején elmaradhatatlan kalapjával ugyanis vonzza a bajt. Pedig csak jót akar, csak érdeklődő, valahogy mégis sikerül zűrös helyzetekbe keverednie. De mindezt nagyon édesen teszi, s szerencsére többnyire pozitív lesz a végeredmény. Maximum mindent összelekvároz.
Szeretném megkérni az összes gyerekkönyv kiadót, hogy legyenek szívesek Tandori Dezsőt ne engedjék mesekönyvek közelébe. Ugye már a Tintaszívnél is szívtam a fogamat de itt most határozottan fájt nekem az, amit művelt. A könyv kisiskolásoknak szól, szóval úgy 5-8 éveseknek, akik szeretnék élvezni a mesét, netán már egyedül próbálkoznának az ovlasással de a sok stílusbravúr miatt gondolom nem fogják megszeretni ezt a történetet. Mert nekik erre nincs szükségük. Beleolvastam direkt online az eredeti regénybe, hogy ne feleslegesen cseszegessem a fordítót, de kiderült, amit sejtettem is, hogy Paddington teljesen normálisan van megírva, maximum az a jópofa békebeli angol hangulat lengi át (ld. Mary Poppins). Persze lehet, hogy én vagyok paranoiás és még konkrétan nem teszteltem a könyvet igazi 5-8 éveseken, lehet nekik bejön ez a stílus…

As sweet and silly as I had hoped. Cozy like warm sticky buns and tea.
I enjoyed the sweet stories far more than my children (6.5 and 4 yo) - the proper English and slower plot was less engaging than I'd hoped for our evening read aloud
Such a delightful read! And Stephen fry’s narration made is absolutely perfect. Just what I needed.

Having only seen the 2014 movie "Paddington" (and loving it) I assumed that the book would follow the same plot, but in fact the book is a series of short stories. It is not any worse for this, as the vignettes are delightful fun-sized packages of entertainment. "A Bear Called Padington" is also not a far fetched fantasy adventure. Instead, author Michael Bond brings all the fun and excitement common in stories such as Harry Potter and Mary Poppins to the rather mundane and drab lives of a normal London family. Well, normal except for having a Peruvian Bear as a member. Paddington manages to bring light and laughter to the smallest of moments like going to a cafe or riding the metro. This is not a laugh out loud type of book but it will certainly make readers smile. In short, Paddington inspires in readers a childlike joy at the marvels of being alive. This is certainly a book that I wish to reread for decades to come.
