I enjoyed this book but less than I expected. Perhaps because I didn't grow up with this story and it has less sentimental value for me. I think that this is great for winter though, because it gave me warm en cozy vibes (even though it is not really a winter story).
Stephen did once again did a wonderful job on the narration of this book and brought all charachters to life!

I was really distracted while listening to this and could barely find the motivation to turn it on. It's a little English bear that wears clothing, what's not to like. It was sweet but I may have to watch the movies to be more invested in his story. Maybe because I am tragically American and don't have the nostalgia of perhaps growing up with it in England. Perhaps he is the Corduroy equivalent of bear shenanigans. It was cute but I just wasn't vibing. That's more on me than on the book. I just wasn't in the right head space considering our current hellscape. I won't continue on with the series but I did enjoy the jaunty music and relaxing Stephen Fry narration. Tatty bye!

Paddington is such a likeable character and the book is very easy to read aloud as I did to my son. Michael Bond says in the postscript that he did not write the Paddington stories for any particular age group and this shows as the quality and humour is great. I have recently seen Paddington 2 at the cinema and am pleased to say that the film does capture something of the love and chaos that is so evident in the book.
The boys didn't find Paddington funny the way I did. When I was young, Paddington would make me laugh till I cried, they barely giggled. I wonder why.
My son and I loved reading this book together at night. The antics of this bear made for lots of giggles together.
