Interesting concept of villain gets the girl. Very mafia violence related so dark. Romance between characters developing was fun, smutty enough. I found it harder to enjoy listening to the audiobook with how they read it with accents and voices put on for characters. I probably would have enjoyed it more reading myself to create the  voices in my head.

Gore, torture, and stalking. Too intense for me in the context of a romance novel

It was going so good until the kidnapping part. Before anyone attacks me, there is some dark romance I like but the kidnapping wasn’t what pissed me off. Actually it was the lack of communication on James' part when Wendy tried explaining that she knew nothing about what happened to Ru. Also hated how innocent Wendy is in everything like it’s fine to be innocent but I kept rolling my eyes when Jonathan would tell Wendy how shitty of a father he is which leads me to my next point. The ending. Good God how horrendous and rushed it felt. I don’t know if you’ve watched a Spanish soap opera where there’s car crashes left and right, someone announces that they have a mystery kid that turns out to be a main character, then more deaths that you constantly have your mouth on the floor by the reveals. Think of that for this book. Smee turns out to be James’ cousin from the Uncle he killed, James is half-siblings with Jonathan because Peter’s wife had an affair which is why he caused the plane to crash that killed his wife and James’ father, then Wendy kills her father and they take Jonathan out of the school and live happily ever after in the boat. I don’t like rushed endings and this wasn’t executed well which made me not like it as much.
