Reviews with content warning for Car accident - Hooked

Where to begin.... This story was decent, and for sure has me interested in the author, but could have been better.

I enjoyed Emily's style of writing. Particularly at the beginning of "Hooked" where she spends a lot of time with setting up who her characters are. Their backstories, current state of mind. Throughout the whole story, it is very easy to tell that she took care to warp Barrie's original works with Peter Pan to make it her own yet not leave the source material left waning. Transforming a place or person from the original fantasy that may be more outlandish to something that would make sense as a modern concept. She did a really brilliant job there.

Why I didn't rate this book higher - There were points where plot line was rushed. A character or event would happen that wouldn't logically (even if a character was being rash, irrational, or impulsive) take me from plot A to B, rather skip to C or D instead. The thought process would be jumped over. After a certain point of this, more and more of the 'twists' became very predictable.

I felt the concept and work behind the story was well done, but I felt with all the effort given, it could have been pushed to a whole other level. Maybe I was expecting a little too much out of a Romance? IDK.

I was really impressed by the storytelling in this book - the writing style combined with all the links to the original story was so well executed. It took me a few chapters to get into the book, but once it had me I was hooked 😉

The spice in this book was perfect for my steamy little heart.
I kept seeing this book and caved. Which I don't usually do with popular books. It did not disappoint.

Every element that got pulled in from the Peter Pan world was a good use for the plot overall. And this was definitely a easy standalone read that's different.
