How do you forgive someone when wounds run deep? For Griffin Darrowby, our hero, the vow he makes years ago keeps his emotions locked away. Then he finds out that he has lost his monies and marriage is his only answer. He finds a woman and just needs to 'woo' her. He doesn't need to commit his love but fate takes place when he is kidnapped by two miscreants. They just happen to be our heroine's brothers.

At first he judges Gates Underhill harshly but Griffin learns of the hardships she has met throughout her young life. He does his best to look the other way but she doesn't make it easy for him. After all, another lady is waiting for a proposal of marriage.

At this point my feelings toward our hero went back and forth. At times I liked the romance and then I thought it was OK. If I could give it another rating it would have been a solid 2.5 stars. Her missing father shows up in the long run and one of the brothers redeems himself. Nothing is easy for Griffin but the hero and heroine find true love in the end. But you knew that, didn't you?
