I really liked this book. OK yeah so you already know that Cinderella or "Cendrillon" is going to marry a prince, that she will have a stepmother and 2 stepsisters, and a parent is going to die. And usually there is a fairy godmother in there somewhere. But I thought it was interesting and very well put together. There are some things you don't see and others you do.

I liked the beginning but I felt the end was rushed.

I don't know why, but I didn't expect too much from this book.. Well, obviously I have to say that I was wrong.. It's well written, way too different from the story that I used to know (even though this book is based on the original story of Cinderella).. What else should I say? I really liked it! <3

This is my favorite version of Cinderella, probably because it's almost nothing like the original. :) I love the idea of wishes and the family Cinderella creates for herself in the face of tragedy. Although I'm not a fan of the love-at-first-sight trope, I still enjoyed this story. (Probably because that doesn't happen until the end of the book so there's no real time to dwell on it.)

Definitely recommended!

I really liked the twist on the characterization of the stepmother and stepsisters. They were nice while still fulfilling their role as "wicked" in a totally believable way. Other than that, the "political intrigue" aspect of the plot made no sense whatever and the characters other than Cendrillon and her stepfamily had little consistency.

Her mother dies giving birth to her, something that Cendrillon's father cannot forgive. Soon after Cendrillon is born, her father leaves her in the care of the housekeeper, Old Mathilde. He also drops off a baby boy. He won't say who the boy is, only that he must never leave the estate.

Cendrillon eventually wishes for a mother and sisters to love her, and is shocked when a stepmother soon arrives, along with two sisters. Cendrillon's father has not told his new wife that he has a daughter and Cendrillon doesn't know how to tell her new relatives that she is not, in fact, a servant.

All of the characters are well-developed and multi-faceted in this marvelous retelling of Cinderella. And, while I found all the love at first sight stuff over the top, well, it IS a fairy tale after all.

Before Midnight - A Retelling of Cinderella by Cameron Dokey – This series is full of perfect YA fairytale retellings! And the little paperbacks are perfect to stick in your purse (or pocket if you have been buying your jeans in the men’s section to actually get functional pockets)! A fun Cinderella! Happy Reading!

This story was cute and I really enjoyed it. However, the prince doesn't come in until the very end and I didn't get to know him very well. However, I still really liked this story.
