Still as awsome as i remember when i first read the hunger games
And still as hearbreaking when Rue dies 😭, also just Peeta and Katniss ahhh why it hurts so much how Peeta is hurt finding out Katniss was basically just being all lovey dovey for the Audience or whatever you want call it where Peeta actually likes her. And Gale the rage i feel for him rereading the book compared to me reading the first time, so innocent not minding gale, now i hate him with a passion

great book though great book🥲

Well, this was just as good on a second reading so many years later. I'm quite surprised because I feared I wouldn't enjoy it quite as much now I was more grown-up, but I just couldn't stop listening to it. The audiobook narrated by Tatiana Maslany is amazing, by the way: she did such a fantastic job bringing Katniss to life! Her singing in *that* scene actually made me tear up.

There was a lot more nuance to the characters and the worldbuilding than I remembered, and the social justice element was really evident - maybe even a bit too much at times but hey, it still works considering it's a YA novel. I'll continue my re-read with the next book in the series, which I'm even more curious to revisit since I remember very little about it.

MY THOUGHTS:
I frequently ponder Suzanne Collins' mindset and the creative process behind envisioning a story set in a world where children are compelled to battle each other to the death.

It makes me reflect on my own moral judgment, considering how much I enjoyed every moment of reading it. Given the current state of society, I sometimes wonder if such a scenario may not be so far-fetched.

I devoured this book quickly and found it consistently engaging. I eagerly anticipated picking up the rest of the series to keep reading.

Rereading this series to read the newest book (2020) only to announce they’re adding a fourth in 2025! I forget how much i enjoyed this series as a kid, and it still holds up today. I still critique the use of the love triangle, but i understand why it’s included. Overall still a great, enjoyable read.
