Doro he doro is one of my all time favorites and when I saw the cover from dai dark I immediatly recognized the uniqe artstyle from hayashida and had to buy it.
She is one of the best artists of our lifetime and proves it again with this first manga of her new series.
It feels all familiar but also very new and unique - cant wait to read the next books

I read this as one of my 12 months, 12 books challenge, recommended by a friend.
I have never read Q. Hayashida's work before, though I was already aware of her popularity. Thus, I came with not too many expectations and I was pleasantly surprised.
"Dai Dark" reads as a cool and full-blooded sci-fi with authentic grittiness and goriness that feels nearly realistic and many authors spend years trying to achieve (to - often - little success). The concept itself is interesting enough and the narration truly captivating. You can tell Hayashida has excellent control of her draftsmanship, with the art successfully creating an atmospheric setting and reading experience. It pairs well with "Gideon the Ninth", too, I guess.
That being said, I am not in a hurry to read ahead; it is not quite what I am in the mood for at the moment but I am glad it is now on my radar.
