I listened to this on audio. It’s about a Japanese grandma and her granddaughter in modern day and their healing relationship as they both tell parts of themselves they’ve never told before

This is truly a beautiful story. I love the dynamic between the granddaughter and grandmother. The history shared, the struggle of being different in the United States, but finding family and finally getting what you need to thrive- perfection. I also enjoyed the prose and formatting of the book. The audiobook was a great listen.

Speaking from experience, I feel it was an accurate representation of an Asian American household in Texas, especially what it is like to be mixed race, and to be unable to hide what is written on your face.
