A lovely, touching book. The descriptions were so beautiful, a love letter to Jansson’s home. Made me feel very calm, serene and at peace. Also made me notice the nature around me more. This would be the perfect book for a Maine vacation. I loved the vignettes between Sophia and her grandmother. They both seemed like such dynamic and complex characters even though there was not much dialogue or action in the book. I loved how much you could infer and see about their relationship that was all shown and not told. Perfect little book, I loved being a fly on the wall to life on their little island.

Such a sweet slice of life with short vignettes of a young girl and her grandmother. I savored each scene, from the whimsical to the mundane.
