Okay, this is SO cute. I’ve had this sitting on my book cart for 2 years and I finally picked it up. Something was calling to me and I’m glad I listened! Literally read it start to finish yesterday.
This is NOT my normal read at all. It was fun to switch it up. This book is written by each chapter representing hand written letters back and forth between the characters (take note of that if you’re interested as that style may not be for everyone).
High level:
The Lost Manuscript follows our main character, Anne-Lise who discovers an abandoned manuscript in her hotel room. She reads it, though unfinished, and finds herself moved by the author’s work. She tracks down the author to return this… turns out it has been missing for YEARS. Anne-Lise is determined to find all the hands this manuscript went through!
It is touching and a great reminder that books truly are special and can change us for the better

I loved this book. I randomly picked it out from the library and what a good feeling it was. Noone recommended it to me, I never heard of it before, not from any socials (i dont go on them) and not from you tube (i am trying to not go on) and this was a total win!

Loved reading this from a different perspective in the forms of letters. Hearing a story and life experiences from everyone’s point of view is liberating!! I started this on plane ride home from a vacation, and finished it on another vacation! With all the locations in the book, it felt like you were traveling on their adventure with them!
Over halfway through the book I learned that it was originally written in French and translated to English. I will miss reading the short chapters and every characters perspective. A very good book if you’re looking for a change of pace. This hits ‘book lover,’ romance and mystery all in one! Loved seeing this unfold.

I don't like epistolary books so you may be asking yourself, "Erin, why would you read this??"
And let me tell you, I asked myself the same question the entire time I was reading the book

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this book, but it ended up being a delightful surprise. It reminded me very much of Fredrik Backman's Anxious People. I enjoyed the everyone-writes-in-letters format of the book and the French accents of the narrators (a fun touch, since the book is a translation and takes place mostly in France).
