Christina is a lovely, strong character. A tragic story that I’m not sure was ever redeemed in the end. The imagery of the little world in which she lives is wonderful.
I somehow like it even more knowing the characters, painting, & house are all real :)
This was a sweet, lovely story. So much that I didn't know about Andrew Wyeth's most famous painting - and now I need to go to MoMA to see it in person.
Christina Baker Kline is a very gifted writer, and the narrator of the audiobook captured the tone of the story perfectly.

I very much enjoyed this story and am intrigued now and intending to learn more about the real people who were the basis for this book.
This is a beautifully written book. Like the painting that inspired it, the prose is lyrical and haunting in a manner that is both realistic and dreamlike. (I've never heard a description like "the yolk of the moon" before. The descriptions are so evocative.) I'm not usually fond of realistic fiction, but this book held my attention throughout and I felt a deep sense of sympathy with the main character Christina. Sometimes I was frustrated with what appeared to be unreasonable stubbornness but it was very human and relatable. Definitely recommended!

Took awhile to get through, slow-paced compared to my typical choices. This book made me appreciate the inspiring work of art (Christina’s World) and what we can see in art based on what we internally bring to it. More I look at the painting, the more I appreciate the book. This story helped me appreciate the action of viewing art
This book was a little too real for me. I had no trouble at all identifying with Christina, even though her disabilities are much more extreme than mine are. I could also relate to her failed relationship with Walter (although I've never actually had a boyfriend) and her closeness with her brother (although I have a sister instead). Yes, her life was bleak and tragic, but for the most part, Christina never gave up on life. She is an inspiration to us all.
I like the connection to real historic facts. Not as good as orphan train, but I did enjoy it.
I usually don't give such high ratings but I loved this book. Christina Kline is a wonderful author and artist in her own right - she paints a picture for the reader of everything happening in the book. It's a beautifully and respectfully written story. I even teared up over some of it. Loved it!! I would highly recommend this.
