I wanted to enjoy this. I tried, but dark, dystopian books are just not for me. That said, this is a captivating piece of literature. It addresses important topics such as religion, climate change, and violence while taking its place in the afrofuturist canon. If any of those appeal to you, then definitely read this book. Read if you enjoy: dystopian, climate change, religious theory, afrofuturism, the work of NK Jemisin

(graphic novel, scifi) I’ve read the original, but this adaptation is a delight. The art is beautiful and brings the story even more to life.

This is my third time reading Parable of the Sower, and the first time reading it in the graphic novel version. I love John Jennings work. The colors, line work, and overall style are vibrant. The illustrations really make the story come alive.

A dark dystopian graphic novel that makes me want to read the actual novel and then the sequel. It was a short read due to the format and the art is excellent. I’d say it’s for early teens and above due to the content.
