With some plot similarities to The Hollow Places, and a slow section in the middle that might have been easily condensed, this one was solid but not my top pick. Still, that being said, Kingfisher's books are fast becoming my favourites across the board (close on the heels of King and Osman and Bardugo...or maybe just in the mix at the top), so this book was still a great listen for me. Kingfisher is an excellent character builder and i could listen to Mouse clean out that hoarder house even if nothing at all happened and she finished, sold it, and went happily back to the city.

I did enjoy this book, but I felt like there was too much on the house and how much the grandmother hoarded that could have been reduced. Other than that it was pretty solid, I liked the plot and creativity of the story and I for sure got “and I twisted myself about like the twisted ones” in my head
