strano, come sempre. qlcuni racconti sono totalmente casuali e mi piacciono, però boh. iniziato anni fa e mai finito l’ho letto oggi e devo dire non male ma mh

I used to love reading Murakami back in high school, but this new book was a huge disappointment.

Although some of the stories seemed appealingly weird (I mean it in a good way. I love weird stories) in the beginning, the weird events led to nowhere. It was like a lot of emotional energy was built up inside me as I followed the lines, and then, all of a sudden, "Bomb"! "THE END" was announced before I could do anything with the abundant energy.

It left me feeling as if I had wasted a few hours of my life trying to seek meanings out of some meaningless occurrences (that were not even real).

I might have grown out of that age where I would appreciate the loose plot and the narrator's meaningless remarks of his observation of the surroundings. I need stories with a purpose.

He seems to have some woman issues.

Some stories better than others. Particularly the one about his love for baseball. Fun, short read to start the summer off.

“Things like this happen sometimes in our lives," I told him. "Inexplicable, illogical events that nevertheless are deeply disturbing. I guess we need to not think about them, just close our eyes and get through them. As if we were passing under a huge wave."

An enjoyable read, but didn’t quite connect with the stories as much as I’d hoped. Men Without Women was a bit more rich. Though I do enjoy his style and perhaps I’m just missing something. Still worth reading I’d say!!

DID NOT FINISH

I couldn’t focus on the book. I feel like it wasn’t the right book for me. I have read other books from this author and have enjoyed his other books but maybe not this one. I might try another time to read this book.

Collection of short stories in the first person singular. Classic Murakami, good for a gentle introduction to the author. Not too out there and a quick enjoyable read.
