I enjoyed this book even more than the Six of Crows, both because of the insight into how young and fallible the characters were and to see the characters develop and grow as they went along.

I did find some of the plot-twists becoming predictable and found some of the writing tactics used to keep the reader in the dark both a little lazy and once purposely misleading which was frustrating.

So for the majority of the book, this was a a solid 4-star read for me. The plot and the pacing was not as engaging as the previous book but the characters were just as lovable and I ate up their backstories like I was starved. Then, THE ENDING HAPPENED. and it was so impeccably done and it ended the duology in such a satisfying -though not perfectly happy way - and it earned back half of star for how incredible the ending was. Overall, I liked the first book more but I think this book still rocks, making this a great duology.
