I flew through this book so fast - and what a delight it was!
Going in, I was sure the set-up of the story wouldn’t quite work for me, it just sounded like a giant second-hand embarrassment. Yet it worked and lead into a funny and charming story.

This book not only has wickedly funny banter, but also compelling personal thoughts as Kitty and Alexander try to figure each other out. The plot was complex enough to keep me interested until the very end.
One of my fave quotes: “Do not fear— wretched, drowned cats are not to my taste,” the duke said with mock sympathy. “A tigress would be another matter entirely.”

Beware: There seems to be two different characters named George. I’ve dealt with that problem in class, but I don’t think ever in a book.
