DID NOT FINISH

DNF. Too much stupidity per square centimeter. Especially from the male protagonist who has the brain of a garden worm and who is supposedly 30 years old, but behaves like a bratty 5 year old only with adult ways to throw tantrums.

This was different in many ways from other books like it. The characters felt really developed and I really liked Weston. His alcoholism made him a very different kind of hero but it was done well and I liked that he struggled with it and it was something easily overcome. The art aspect was interesting which I usually don’t find true in books with that focus. The only issue I really had was with how clearly terrible Yardley is and how there was no surprise at all to what was going on and who was behind it.

Okay. . . Where to begin?

Firstly, Anthony deserved to almost get shot, esp. after seeing how torn up Lucy was over her damaged painting of him.

Secondly, they're adorable and I hate and love that I ship it at the same time. Like I think they're absolutely adorable, and the part of him that cares for her is sweet, while the part of her that constantly thinks about him is comfortingly spicy. Everything was just.

That being said, I did hate Anthony in certain moments, and the actions of both the characters annoyed my nerves to no end. However, it was sweet and spicy so I'm happy and it gets 3 stars.

The end.

This story felt like it was missing something?? I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it, it kept me hooked enough to finish it…. But I just feel like it was missing something essential the whole time I was reading it.

This was done a huge disservice by its cover imo but it scratched alllll my itches in terms of historical accuracy and our heroine being given a vibrant life outside of her romance.
