I don't see why people love this book, I really don't.
Appearances in this book are rather deceiving. While the Duke *is* an irredeemable drunkard, he's not the one pulling the strings in this book, or responsible for his money. He's under a codicil, from a will, that makes a him a legal child until his 30th birthday, which is in a few weeks. Remember #FreeBrittney? Yeah, like that. The trustee of the codicil is a friend of the late Duke, who seems to enjoy living high on the Duke's money without taking care of the estates.
The pacing of the book was far, far too varied, with some sections being far too fast-paced, and others dragging on. Lucy was a wonderful character, who needed more screen time and less Duke-time. They are very bad for each other, and I'm over "I can fix him" books.

Mary Jane Wells’ narration elevates the delightful writing and really brings the story to life. Loved both of the characters!
