Wrapped up well
I am so sad that this series has ended, but I feel it wrapped up well. I enjoyed reading it and highlighted approximately half of it on my kindle. KMM writes beautifully.

Another 5 ⭐️ from KMM. (EDITED TO 4⭐️) (EDITED TO 3.5) (EDITED TO 3⭐️) I loved this book. She tied up so many loose ends, it felt like she wrapped up the series nicely. There are still characters to explore if she chooses to down the road, but nothing is left hanging. (see edit) I’ve spent the last 15 years with this series so it ending is bittersweet but I’m also not sad because I can reread anytime. She ended it just right.
EDIT after my post read high, and then marinating for a couple days I had to do the unthinkable and drop this down to 4 stars. Here’s why.
EDIT AGAIN: after marinating some more and discussing it with my legions of Fever fan friends who also had many issues with this book, my final rating is 3.5. I can’t do 1/2 stars on Goodreads so it will stand at 4 stars visually because I don’t want to cut her down a full star when I only want to take off half, but the more I think about this book, the more disappointed I am. For me, the series ends at HiVo plus the addition of knowing Ryo became king. That’s it. The rest of the book does not exist in my brain any longer.
FINAL EDIT: nope. I can’t in good conscience recommend this book to Fever fans. 3 stars it is. The lack of Mac activity, and her disappointing reign as “queen” (if you can even call her that...) and keeping Dani caged is just unforgivable. The two most epic characters got shoved in a closet and instead we got a bunch of irrelevant new characters (the entire seasonal court didn’t even need to make an appearance...) there was no epic showdown where Mac got to flex her queenly powers. The Nine and the tribunal, who got this amazing build up in all the previous books were not even mentioned really. I just expected...more. But the lack of Mac and Dani, the main characters of this brilliant series, is unforgivable.

So-
1) it’s like 5 years since The U.K. disappeared. And his power has just been floating around not choosing anyone because nobody wanted it enough. How did cruce not want it enough? That doesn’t sit right with me. He was a total power grabber. And then Ryoden (who I happen to think is the perfect U.K.) just goes and does a bunch of spells and attracts his power and voila. Ryoden is king? Wut.
2) Ryoden is king. Yay!! But then he just goes charging in on his white horse (errrr black dragon) and rescues Dani (who doesn’t need it. Bitch is fierce!!!) with like no delay. But when Mac got her powers she had to sequester herself for 2 years and all she basically did was grow Khaleesi hair and turn BBB pink... what? That seems like such a disservice to Mac, who we’ve been following for 15 years. And then in the epilogue she’s like “well it turns out as SQ I don’t have to do much.” But why then did Aiobheal have such a full plate? Negotiating compacts and keeping Adam and the other unruly fairies in check.... did they suddenly all behave? I doubt it. I mean did Ryo just take over everything?
3) all the Unseelie died. Except Christian, Cruce, and Sean. How did they not die. I mean sure they had some humanity (except Cruce...) but they went full unseelie. I’m glad they didn’t die but now why does there need to be an U.K. at all? There aren’t unseelie! Cruce’s creations seem more seelie-like and Mac could’ve governed. But she’s off doing nothing. It really feels like Mac kind of got shoved out of the way between Ryoden and Dani’s epic-ness. In all fairness R&D are way more interesting than Mac but that’s not the point.
4) really, Mac, you had basically 2 Barrons’ and you never even THOUGHT how much fun that could be... even If the real JZB would never allow it LOL. Get real. That would’ve been my first thought. Even Gwen thought that about Dageus.
Which brings me to 5) Chloe gets the elixir. Which makes me happy. She can be with Dageus forever. But what about Gwen and Drustan. Are they gonna live normal lives and then die? Or will Mac give them the elixir? Who gets the elixir... whomever Mac chooses? That’s not fair. But yet I still want them to have it.
6) NEED MORE LOR!!!!
7) Christian gets the perfect mate, who leaves him to Galavant through the silvers for however long and she’s happy to leave him and be like “but someone misses me!! How awesome!!” While hes home being Death. I hope he at least gets some action while she’s gone because poor dude deserves it. Don’t give him a happy ending and then be like but you have to wait 5,000 years...
8- the beasts basically kill with a DEMENTORS KISS??? What????? That’s so unviolent and un nine. I loved that Barrons ate cruce’s ashes though. That’s BA AF.
9) whatever happened to the old Gods
10) what ever was the tribunal. Why were they ever mentioned because nothing ever came of them.
OK I think that addresses everything. Honestly I really did love the book and I thought it wrapped everything up nicely but I also was like hmmmmmmmm. I need to get this off my chest. It literally kept me awake last night. ((❗️EDIT:: the more I think about this book the more I realize I truly did not love this book. I was actually bitterly disappointed, previously I was riding a post-Fever high.)) KMM will ALWAYS be my favorite author. Forever and ever. But this book fell flat. Clearly this series has had a profound effect on my life if I’m still thinking about it a month later.

It feels like she was beyond ready to wrap up the Fever series and move on to her next projects. Which I get. This was a 15 year (for readers, so longer for her, project,) but it felt like she kind of just wrote a bunch of epilogues rather than a fitting, majorly epic ending for the most epic, life changing series I’ve ever read. I was honestly just expecting...more.

Perfect!!!!
Sometimes when a series runs this long, things start falling flat and it just isn't interesting anymore. Absolutely not the case with this one! Every character you fell in love with in the beginning gets to have the happy ending you wished for them. I will never stop recommending this series to anyone who hasn't read it!

This was a solid ending to a terrific series. Enjoyed the storyline and the way things were tied up.

medium-paced
I have just three words:
HOLY
FUCKING
SHIT!
I did not expect all that. Authorlord Karen Marie Moning, you did again, that was a damn masterpiece.
Someone get me a lamp with a djinn inside because I need to make some wishes and one of those is for me to get 2 Jericho Barrons.

Authors are people, so there's all kinds of reasons it can take a while to finish a book. After reading the Acknowledgements, I'm impressed Moning managed it at all.
This is a solid end to the series, wrapping up the various characters' plot lines nicely. A little anticlimactic in places, but mostly an engaging read.

So I put off writing this to give myself time to consider. Another reviewer basically said how I felt about the book. I'm honestly disappointed in it, but I also have respect that the author overcame her health issues and gave us one more to tie up loose ends.
But it was the tying that bothered me. I don't mind how everyone ended up. A few of them were surprising where they ended up. As others have said, I kinda wish there was more Dani and Ryodan... like involved with the rest of the group. I liked the introduction of Lyryca -- she was a really cute character. It's just that the story kinda seemed to be meandering and then BAM it was done. Everything tied up nicely (and seemingly too easily) with a big, red ribbon. It was just sort of anti-climactic. I liked all of the epilogues (including the fourth one on KMM's site), but I also believe Dani and Ryodan should have gotten one. I mean there were FOUR... what's one more?
On the plus side, this last one coming so long after the others prompted a reread of the series which was good because I forgot a LOT. And it was fun to reexperience it again.
