I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Wonderful storytelling and world building, witty dialogue that kept me entertained the whole time. Amazing

This book’s worldbuilding has so much potential! It’s so unique and fun to imagine, but I feel like the cheesiness and predictability of the plot really took away from this.

Also, the focus became very romance heavy the last third of the book, and it had me rolling my eyes and skimming. Moreover, the randomly long sex scene?

Really odd considering how jumpy and fast the pacing was and then suddenly pacing slows for the sake of cheese lovemaking.

The climax was a stroll in the park and romance lacking in substance. It was all *omggg we are on the same wavelength with our feelingsss* and *omg everything is different with you* from the get go.. I heard the next one is a more fun adventure so I hope it’s executed better and we get more world building! It’s a pirate adventure

This book seemed to mostly be lacking any sort of real obstacle for the main character to overcome. We are presented with a problem, a young woman is sent into a dangerous, uncomfortable situation for what seem like terrible reasons, some things happen, and everything is resolved. It isn't boring, but it also isn't particularly exciting. The world-building is pretty slap-dash, too.

I have unfortunately DNF’d this book and while I don’t think I read enough to give it a rating I did just want to add a mini review.

The writing is really what lead me to DNF. I just found it so simplistic and a bit wooden. Some of the speech has strange wording and doesn’t sound natural to me. This might not bother a lot of people but I just couldn’t look past it.

I absolutely adored this book.

I am a sucker for interesting magic systems and slow burn romances and this book had both in spades.

Larkyra is one of 3 sisters gifted with amazing magics that work in harmony with one another to please or maim their intended audience. By day they are princesses of Jabari, doted on by their father, and by night they are the great Mousai, feared and loved by those of the Thief Kingdom. They find themselves entangled in the destiny of Lachlan, lorded over by the putrid Duke Hayzar and his handsome, but troubled, step-son Darius.

This was a very enjoyable book that made me laugh, and brought me close to tears more than once. The characters are loveable and well fleshed out, and the writing was just perfect. The chemistry and tension between Darius and Larkyra had me almost shouting at the book, willing them to just kiss one another already (which doesn't happen until past the 80% mark!).

A very surprising read, as I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. An excellent way to finish a varied month of reading.
