It was all downhill for me once
that woman sat there and watched his stepdad give him a bad allergic reaction for fun.
Darius (who is white?) never brought that up again, but EYE never forget and I don't forgive

This book is vast. It's a sprawling journey through several families and worlds. It's a bit slow at times, but I loved the story. Lark is unique and strong, Darius is such a great not-hero.

This captivating fantasy grabs you from the start! The intense prologue introduces Larkyra's powerful magic, hinting at the danger lurking beneath the surface. Dual perspectives from Larkyra and Darius keep the story dynamic and full of energy.

The world-building is phenomenal. The Mousai's mesmerizing dances and the magical realm of Achak are vividly described, drawing you into a world of mysteries, supernatural powers, and a fantastical trio. The slow-burning romance between Larkyra and Darius is filled with witty banter and steamy tension, making their interactions a delight.

The supporting characters are just as captivating. The sisters showcase unique personalities while sharing a strong bond. Their bravery, intelligence, and love for one another shine through. Overall, the heartwarming family dynamics are a highlight of the story.

This book’s worldbuilding has so much potential! It’s so unique and fun to imagine, but I feel like the cheesiness and predictability of the plot really took away from this.

Also, the focus became very romance heavy the last third of the book, and it had me rolling my eyes and skimming. Moreover, the randomly long sex scene?

Really odd considering how jumpy and fast the pacing was and then suddenly pacing slows for the sake of cheese lovemaking.

The climax was a stroll in the park and romance lacking in substance. It was all *omggg we are on the same wavelength with our feelingsss* and *omg everything is different with you* from the get go.. I heard the next one is a more fun adventure so I hope it’s executed better and we get more world building! It’s a pirate adventure
