this book was amazing! i just have to say that it was written phenomenally. i enjoyed every single part of this book. there was never a dull moment following Sloane around her hectic time throughout the book. i would 100% recommend this book. SO GOOD.
but seriously. realm. i still love him.

It was fine. Wasn’t really captivated or invested. The lack of description about almost everything and everyone bothered me, especially when the pieced together images in my head clashed with what details were later given. The ending was cute and everything wrapped up conveniently. Everyone’s problems were happily solved
Man! This book made me cry sooooo many times!!! I wish I had a love like James and Sloane!! This book was a very good book! I really loved the ending and its special meaning. This book made me battle my everyday issues with more courage and see things in a new perspective and made me question people's intentions and true motives. I really felt like I was there in the epidemic as Sloane. This book really makes me rethink courage and bravery to help others even when it compromises your own wellbeing. Overall this book was great and a very good sequel to THE PROGRAM!!

I wasn't feeling this, I don't know, the love triangle was beyond annoying in this second book...and I'm just wondering how I gave the first book 5 stars…smh. It wasn't a bad follow-up, just kind of juvenile…with a less than believable storyline…all culminating in a somewhat rushed ending. Hhhmm…that sounds kind of bad, huh? I will say that it's overall message is attempting to be redemptive...and, it almost got there.
⇝Will I continue this series⇜ I think this was the ending to Sloan and James stories…and I'm not really feeling like I want to read anything else taking place in this world, so…probably not.

There was so much wrong with this book. Why oh why is the author so bad at explaining anything? It's like she just throws things in for plot with no care how they all fit together or make sense. It felt like the rebels didn't do anything except provide cash for Sloane and James to hide. We never really heard about them doing anything rebellious or in general. The leader was on her phone doing “stuff” all the time. Did we ever find out said stuff? Nope, of course not! Because why would we?!
Graphic: Death, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Cursing, Mental illness
Minor: Pedophilia, Rape, Suicide attempt
I am not sure why I picked up The Treatment, but The Program really didn’t entice me, but I was glad that I enjoyed The Treatment a lot more than I thought I would. It was kinda fun reading a duo series where most are at least three or more books.
Likes:
Sloane and James were nowhere near as annoying as they were in the first book. They seemed so corny in The Program, but I felt like their relationship was a lot more realistic in The Treatment.
I always have liked the “on the run” feel in dystopian literature. I love the way it moves along and the fear it creates. The thought of barely being able to sleep for the fear of being found gives a little thrill.
Dallas and Cas were interesting new additions to the story. I loved the way Dallas entwined with Sloane and Michael’s storyline.
I feel like the writing “matured” in this book, that the experience of writing The Program really helped Suzanne Young drive into The Treatment head-first and create a more in-depth story with better prose.
The “love triangle” situation that bothered me a lot more in The Program really wrapped up well in The Treatment.
Gripes:
As much as the writing in The Treatment grew on me, it still felt a little lacking in the emotional connection. I wanted more and I felt the writing held the story just on the surface.
I was really surprised by the lack of parental communication in the book. I do not think that realistically Sloane’s parents would sit back and do nothing as their daughter was on the run. I know I look to far into things, but sometimes I feel like family plays such a minor role in young adult novels and I think it is an area that really needs more growth.

A Flurry of Ponderings

This sequel was fine. My main complaint is that it dragged on and on and on... I just wanted a conclusion to the series after a while, which is why I'm so thankful that this wasn't made into a trilogy. I absolutely loved the first book, and I think this one followed up nicely, but it couldn't quite match up to the world building and even prose of the first book. I'm glad I got to see more of Sloane and James together, and I really liked Dallas's character (even if she kind of just replaced Lacey) and I'm glad that epilogue was about her, but I'm not sure what that says about the journey. Anyways, I would still recommend this series, even if this book gets REALLY graphic at times. (I tried to close my eyes while reading; it doesn't work.)
Although the ending seemed a bit rushed (and kind of unexplained), I LOVED THIS BOOK. A suicide epidemic, love triangles, evil doctors...what's not to love? It's tough to write a review of this one without giving away spoilers so just read it!
