Graphic: Torture, Toxic relationship
Painful Love!
I am loving this book series so much! I knew I would when I read Hateful Love by T. Ashleigh in the Anthology!
Bunky was abused when he was a small kid and lost his mother. That’s when he meets Whaley at 8 years old. When he’s a senior in high school everything starts to change!
Whaley being Head of the Kings Of Aces means has a lot of things on his plate and that doesn’t include a crazy Bunky trying to get him to notice him! But their monsters play so well with each other!
Bunky and Whaley’s trauma are almost the same. And sometimes hurt recognizes hurt! I am obsessed with their story and I really can’t wait till the rest of the series comes out!

Whaley and Bunky are both broken boys who grew up to be broken men and never dealt with their traumas. And they are in gangs and do drugs, so those vices don’t help.
This didn’t work for me from the beginning. Neither man had been with a man (on page) prior to the encounter that led to Bunky becoming obsessed. That’s not to say they weren’t attracted obviously, but it all felt very forced to me and out of the blue, not at all organic.
The running theme I found was this: Bunky lost control of himself, did something impulsive and reckless, Whaley came to take care of it, tried to fight his attraction, couldn’t, screwed his brains out, regretted it and made excuses, and Bunky felt more like crap after. Their whole back and forth goes on for a few months (I’m assuming during the course of the first book).
Once they finally got together I was excited because I hate push/pull in books unless it’s an ongoing thing even in the relationship. However….after this was rectified I was bored. I had to force myself back to the book to read and close to the end was skimming through chapters.
This might just be a ‘me’ problem obviously, the book and I just didn’t jive. Hopefully you will love it, as it does have a lot of the tropes that I (and others) look for in a dark romance.
I received an advanced copy from Chaotic Creatives in exchange for my honest review.

Yooo check your TWs for this one!
This one was way darker than Hateful Love so be mindful of that going into it!
I did enjoy this one though! Whaley and Bunky (listen these names are killing me) are so toxic and obsessive but somehow So good for each other???
I love That they both have a safe space in each other and how much they trust the other!
I’m so fucking excited for Raid’s book omfg
