Reading this book was like being wrapped in a warm, Irish hug. I listened to it and Marian Keyes read it herself. I love her writing and this book didn’t disappoint. As others have said, it’s a slow burn, but I love the way Keyes wraps all open details up in a wonderful package.

Marian Keyes, for me, will always be the queen of the Rom Com. (or “meet-cute” as they call it these days.

Although you could read this book without any experience of the previous 6 Walsh family books, it helps to knowing them and quite joyous to catch up with them all.

The book has a warm, interesting and beautiful context. (I love M’town and want to go and live there). The characters are great and storytelling is heartwarming, funny and clever.

It’s a long book and could have ended sooner. There were a couple of false endings (if it were a film, you’d have been reaching for the remote). It’s a little overdone in parts, like a caricature of real-life, and the romancey bit did drag on a bit, but she has a knack of frequently getting a feeling across in words that left me
ponderous and so satisfied - like it all just clicked perfectly into place. And the pages just turned themselves

I can’t remember the last time I had to struggle this much to get to the end of a book. This was partly because it was 400 pages too long, partly because it was astoundingly boring, and partly because the main character was a horrible person who if we ever met would make no secret of the fact that she hated me. So all in all an unpleasant way to spend several hours of my life.
